Step 1 - Preparation

Before starting to install Quartz WebManager, you have to prepare yourself and defines some points :

Let's face it. Everything now a day starts by that : download an app! Here is yours.
The install package contains four main folders: database, web, service and tasks.

Quartz WebManager is composed of three main components: the database, the website and the Windows service.
You have to defined where each components will be installed and how many times.
Normally, a "minimum" installation should be something like 1 database, 1 website and 2 services.

But it is possible to have more websites or services for load-balancing and fail-over.
Note: Regarding the database, it should be "unique", but it could be installed on a SQL Server cluster.

Technical users

Each of the services that you defined for your architecture will need a specific user. The user for the website will be used to connect to the database, the user for the service will be used as well to connect to the database but also to execute the tasks.
There are three main strategies that you can decide to use:
  1. One user for all - Main avantage: simplier right management
  2. One user for each service - Main avantage: full control over rights and better logging
  3. Two user one for website, one for service - That's the compromise

For the next steps of the installation, we will use the third strategy and speak about the WEB_USER and SERVICE_USER - but you can choose whatever strategy you want.

User group

You should defined who should be able to use the task manager and define a group for that.
In the next steps of the installation, we will use the name USERS_GROUP for this group.

Database name

It's important to define and note the name of the server database as well as the name of the database itself because all the servers that will be installed in the next steps will have to connect to the database.
we will use the name DATABASE_SERVER and DATABASE_NAME in the next steps of the installation.
